SOMATIC MOVEMENT
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?
Somatic movement is movement guided from the inside out — not how a pose looks, but how it feels. The word soma comes from the Greek for "the body," and somatic practice is built on a simple truth: the body remembers what the mind tries to forget. Every emotion we don't fully feel, every stress response we don't complete, gets stored in the tissue — in tight hips, a clenched jaw, a held breath. Somatic movement uses breath, sensation, and deliberate motion to release what's stuck and bring the nervous system back to center. In The Practice, we call this moving energy — quite literally, e-motion, energy in motion.
